Assembly and function of RNA-protein complexes in animal biology

We study the structural assemblies and biochemical functions of RNA-protein complexes in animals.

How do proteins recognize RNA?
What are the macromolecular assemblies of RNA-protein complexes?
How does assembly connect to RNA-protein complex biochemistry in situ?
How do RNA-protein complexes pass information across generations?

The lab uses a variety of methods across biological scales, from atomic resolution structures to the C. elegans animal model. In parallel, a second goal is to identify and develop hidden talent in the biological sciences to recruit the next generation of STEM enthusiasts.
